Emerald Isle

The small Emerald Isle is situated in the western regions of the high Arctic zone, located at the northern end of the Fitzwilliam Strait 26 km north from the Cape Scott region of Melville Island (at bottom edge of the above image) and 27 km east from the Cape Hemphill region of northeastern Prince Patrick Island (at image left). To the north lie the two minor islands of Fitzwilliam Owen Island (west) and Eight Bears Island (east), located 24 km distant.
Emerald Isle has an area of 549 km², measuring 36 km in length (east to west) and up to 22 km in width.
