Katers Island

Katers Island (at right in the image) is a large island of 17.7 km² located on the eastern side of Montague Sound. The island sits 3.1 km from the western side of the Cape Voltaire peninsula and is separated from the mainland by less than 2 km of open water; it guards the northwestern entrance in to Swift Bay. The island rises to a height of 105 m at its northern end and measures 7.5 km in length from north to south with a maximum width of 4 km along its southern end.
Also visible in the image (at the image centre) is Wollaston Island (7.9 km²), lying less than 5 km southwest of Katers.
