The Kingfisher Islands consist of two main islands and a number of smaller islands located on the northwestern side of the Kimberley's Collier Bay. To the north, across the Viney Passage, is the large reef formation that surrounds the Montgomery Islands; to the south are the Woninjaba Islands.
The groups two main islands of Kingfisher Island (on the north) and Melomys Island (on the south) are separated by the narrow Mulagudwa Pasage.
