Losap is a small atoll formation of the central Caroline Islands, located within the eastern regions of Chuuk State and forming part of the Eastern Islands or Upper Mortlock Islands group. Chuuk lies 81 km to the northwest; it's nearest neighbour is the small reef-fringed islet of Nama, 13 km to the northwest. The other atolls of the Mortlock Islands group are located to the southeast, 110 km to 170 km distant, and include Etal, Lukunor, Namoluk and Satawan.
The 10 km by 6 km atoll consists of 7 main reef segments — two major reefs that almost entirely enclose the 28 km² central lagoon and several smaller reefs that form the central sections of the western rim; the eastern rim is cut by a single deep and narrow channel. The atoll rim contains 14 small islets (1 km²), with the major landmasses occurring in the northeast and south.
