Kwajalein

Kwajalein, Marshall Islands

Kwajalein is the third largest atoll in the world in terms of lagoon area, covering an area of 2,173 km² — over twice the size of Rongelap, the Marshall Islands next largest lagoon. Its 97 small islets have a combined area of 16.4 km² — making it also the largest of the Marshall Islands atolls in terms of land area. The atoll consists of an extremely narrow reef rim, forming an elongated shape of some 130 km km in length and up to 32 km across.
