Takaroa

Takaroa is a narrow atoll of the northwestern regions of the archipelago, located 12 km northeast from Takapoto. The atoll measures 26 km in length (orientated northeast to southwest) and averages 7 km across. The narrow reef rim (60 km in length) encloses a central lagoon of nearly 90 km² in area.
Takaroa is the reef-toppped summit of a seamount that contains two summit atolls; the southern summit contains the larger atoll of Takapoto.
